CFCs and the ozone layer.

Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), used as refrigerants, aerosol dispersers and foaming agents, can accumulate in the stratosphere.

Chlorine from CFCs can convert ozone (O3) to oxygen gas (O2), catalyzed by sunlight.

The destruction of atmospheric ozone can lead to depletion of the ozone layer.
