The biotic boundary needed to support a minimum viable population (MVP) of 50 Yellowstone grizzly bears in the short term is larger than the combined areas of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

To ensure long-term survival of the bears, a MVP of 500 will be required, with a much larger biotic boundary.
