In  eukaryotes,  the  nucleus
   provides a separate compartment for transcription.

   The  initial RNA transcript (pre-mRNA) is processed before leaving the
   nucleus as mRNA.

   The   mRNA   is   used  for  translation  on  ribosomes,  producing  a
   polypeptide.
